Dark New Day live @ O'Malley's Corner Entertainment Complex, Louisville KY (11/24)

and now for the review....
the show kicked a$$, of course! we got to the venue in time to see the second band. we sat through it because amber was feeling a little ill, but as soon as they were done, we decided to move up to the front. amber made it all the way to the foot of the stage. starre and i hung back, since we're taller and could see over most of the people in front of us. DnD came on, and everyone around us started yelling for clint. they opened with Taking Me Alive, and when they started playing, all sorts of hell broke loose. i had a crowd-surfer fall on my head within the first two minutes of the show. haha. needless to say, i kept my eyes peeled for more of them for the rest of the show! a mosh pit also broke out almost immediately, and stayed going off-and-on throughout the set. you could tell the boys, especially corey, were loving it. after a few songs, i moved up to stand behind amber. the timing couldn't have been better, because the next song, Pieces, sent the crowd into an even bigger frenzy. i saved that girl's butt, let me tell you! hehehe. clint sang "Hurt," which everyone sang along to. i love that they do this song. it has always been a favorite of mine. i can't remember the set-list, but i think it was pretty much the same as the one from the Atlanta show that is posted. they ended with "Brother," and that had the pit going again, plus about twenty guys pushing up against me and amber trying to get to the front of the stage while singing at the top of their lungs.
after the show, the guys hung out around the merch booth for a minute. we went up, said Hello, got our picture taken by (not with! haha) brett, and THEN remembered what carol had said about not spending thanksgiving with corey and clint for so long that she couldn't remember the last time. so we made an impromtu sign with a flyer off of the wall and brett's sharpie, and went off looking for the lowery boys. if you don't have an idea of how hard it is to get the two of them together for a minute, let me tell you...it's damned hard. so we gave up, and got just corey to hold the sign.

Thanks Melissa! This was so thoughtful of you!!

after that we hung out for a few more minutes, talked to troy and his new-found love for fatherhood, then it was back to elizabethtown and our hotel room for bed.
and then got up super-early so i could make it to work by 10:00.
and that was that! it was a great show, and i can't wait for the next one!
enjoy the pics. i put them all up, even the crappy ones.

 (3) Concert Reviews - added 10/13/05
Dark New Day live @ Exit/In in Nashville, TN (Oct 7)

Whoooo!! FINALLY got to see Dark new Day. I'm going to write a full-on review for the school paper, which I will post here eventually, but for now I'll just say random stuff about the show.

Here is the approximate set list, though I didn't write this down so it may be off a tad:

1. Taking Me Alive
2. Fill Me Again
3. Heal in Time
4. That's Enough
5. Free
6. Pieces
7. Hurt [NIN cover]
8. Lean
9. Evergreen
10. Bare Bones
11. Brother

This was a great show. Exit/In is a cool venue. The stage is big, and the ceiling is pretty high too, which created a vibe akin to the Tabernacle in Atlanta [on a smaller scale].

Dark new Day sounds dead-on live, and they've got a very energetic stage show. Most of the songs are a bit different live; they add stuff to the beginnings and ends, and the drummer just goes nuts with the fills. They're not just going through the motions note for note.

Brett especially is fun to watch, and to me it looks like he's having even more fun on stage now that he doesn't have a guitar strapped to him.

They owned the crowd pretty much throughout; the only song that really fell flat live was "That's Enough". "Evergreen" was the highlight by far, although they do go nuts with "Pieces" live, which the crowd definitely responded to. Also, "Hurt" was really cool, even though I was in the bathroom for half of it

I was going to stick around to talk to the guys, but there was a huge mob at the merch table after the show. Much dinero was made by them that night!

Blown away...AGAIN!!

So...last night was awesome!! Unfortunately they didn't open the doors until almost an hour after they said they were going to, so we had to stand outside the venue forever. It was freezing and it made me grumpy. However, I ensure you that I got over that as soon as I got in the doors! My roomate (Lis) and I went to the meet and greet and it was awesome!! All of the guys were so great! They made all of us feel very welcome and they were so thankful for our help.

The other bands were really good. I enjoyed them a lot. DnD took the stage and I fought my way through the crowd so that I could be right in front (I'm short so I pretty much have to be there or on an elevated surface to see around all the people)! They rocked my face off...for the third time since July! I was a little disappointed because I couldn't get good pictures of Corey and Clint trading instruments because they did it on the opposite side of the stage. Clint doing Hurt was amazing!

Afterwards they mingled with the crowd a lot. All in all, my night was so awesome! Now I can't wait for them to come back! And I also can't wait for them to get back in the studio and get us some new music!! They blow me away everytime I see them! They are awesome.

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to get my pictures developed as soon as I had hoped, so it will be a couple of days before I can get them up. But, to hold everyone over, I'm posting some pics that my friend Amanda took. Some of them are really good! Enjoy!! http://photobucket.com/albums/b304/tackett79/

Last night's show as the best one so far!

Will was amazing and when Corey and Clint swapped instruments at the end of Brother that was just bad ass! It was cool to see Clint behind the drums during sound check too Anyway...every show keeps getting better and better and I can't wait to catch another one
